Kimra Harper Cole is no stranger to shattering glass ceilings and paving the way for others to follow. She recently returned to Lexington after being selected to take the helm of Columbia Gas of Kentucky as its first female president and chief operating officer. Recently named in The Lane Report’s “Top Women In Business” listing, the Richmond native now leads a nearly all-female leadership team.
Kimra has risen through the ranks at Columbia Gas and its parent company, NiSource. She has served in leadership roles in marketing, engineering and operations, including her most recent stint in Columbus, Ohio as Vice President of Distribution Operations, a role in which she managed more than 700 employees and contractors and a $385 million-dollar budget for multiple departments across NiSource’s seven-state footprint. Prior to her time at NiSource, Kimra served as Director of Engineering at the Kentucky Public Service Commission and Commissioner of General Services for the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government, where she led the Division of Parks and Recreation and the Division of Facilities and Fleet Management.
Kimra holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and an MBA, both from the University of Kentucky. She has completed multiple business and leadership programs with organizations including Wharton School of Business, The Kentucky Institute of Economic Development and the American Gas Association.
She is married to Bob, president of The Coleman Group, a commercial real estate and property management firm. The couple has two children, Alec and Ashton
